Day 3 - CHARLESTON TOURING  
A local author/guide will join us this morning highlighting the cobblestoned streets, historic homes and restored buildings, some dating back before the Revolution. Charleston is famous for its colorful architecture.   After touring, free time at the famous local downtown market with interesting crafts. This evening offers a delightful dinner cruise with very good food, choice of several entrees.   Meals:B,D

Day 4 - CHARLESTON/BEAUFORT/SAVANNAH     
Depart Charleston this morning for the old port town of Beaufort (pronounced BYOO-furt), about as southern as it gets. It’s tucked off the beaten path on the banks of the Intra-Coastal Waterway. Enjoy a horse and carriage ride through this town of historic antebellum homes and narrow oak-lined streets. Later depart for Savannah, to check into our hotel for two nights. Dinner this evening at the well-known 45 Bistro.   Meals:B,D

Day 5 - SAVANNAH   
Savannah is a special and very charming southern city because of its natural beauty and rich history. A local guide will join us to tour the Historic District laid out around 24 Trust Lots, public areas or squares as we know them today. Our morning tour includes a visit with our guide to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, one of the largest cathedrals in the South. This afternoon explore more of this enchanting city’s tree-filled squares, the City Market or the River Street Shops.   Meals:B

Day 6 - SAVANNAH/RICHMOND, VA   
We leave Savannah and drive to Richmond, stopping enroute for an independent lunch. Afternoon check in at our hotel. A delicious dinner this evening at the Tobacco Company Restaurant.   Meals:B,D

Day 7 - RICHMOND/HOME    
A lovely morning as we visit the local Lewis Ginther Botanical Gardens, recently voted the second best Gardens in the U.S. These gardens offer year-round beauty including a classical domed conservatory with over 200 orchids in bloom. There are several themed gardens, always a favorite attraction on our tour. A delicious lunch before we depart for home, with arrival in the early evening.   Meals:B,L

I T I N E R A R Y
Day 1 - WILMINGTON/NEWARK/INDEPENDENCE/NEW BERN, NC            
Morning departure takes us south over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel to Norfolk for lunch at the Abbey Restaurant. Continue to New Bern for overnight with dinner included at our hotel. After dinner have a stroll along the river walk behind the hotel.  Meals:L,D

Day 2 - NEW BERN/MIDDLETON PLANTATION/CHARLESTON             
Travel south to the Middleton Plantation, arriving in time for lunch and our guided tour. The Plantation, now restored, lay overgrown and neglected following the Civil War. A direct descendant inherited the Plantation and with his bride spent many years restoring the extensive gardens, one of the most interesting and important gardens in America. A Low Country lunch at the plantation is followed by a Plantation and stable yard tour, a National Historic Landmark. Check into our Charleston hotel, your home for two nights.   Meals:B,L

Charleston and Savannah are two of our most delightful and historic southern cities. Our tour takes you to each city for two nights with sightseeing led by local guides. We have also included the beautiful Middleton Plantation just outside of Charleston, whose gardens will be in full bloom. Enroute to Savannah, we’ll stop in Beaufort for a horse and carriage ride around this delightful coastal town with lovely shops and homes to see. You’ll enjoy Savannah, famous for her hospitality and her many historic squares and handsome town houses.
