Day 2 - YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
Leave the city this morning for the incredible wonders of nature as we make our way into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the nation’s first state park, set aside by Abraham Lincoln in 1864. Enter the park via Big Oak Flat Road and arrive at the beautiful Yosemite Hotel (was called Ahwahnee Lodge) for lunch. Then enjoy a narrated tram tour of the Yosemite Valley and Park including El Capitan, towering 7,569 feet above the Merced River, Bridalveil Falls, where roaring torrents cascade over the cliffs, Yosemite Falls, the second highest in the world, and the geologically fascinating Half Dome. Day 7 - COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE/PORTLAND, OR
We travel inland from Newport to the “city of roses”, Portland, Oregon. We’ll stop for lunch on your own and then continue east through the magnificent Columbia River Gorge via the scenic route to Multnomah Falls, one of the four highest in the U.S. Then a short drive to the Bonneville Dam, the dam that tames the Columbia River. Tour the Visitor’s Center independently with its underwater salmon-viewing windows. Return to Portland for overnight and a farewell dinner. Meals:B,D
Fly away to San Francisco to begin an exciting and scenic tour through Northern California and Oregon. Experience Yosemite National Park, see giant redwood trees, taste some of California’s great wine, take a jet boat ride on the Rogue River, travel along the Columbia River Gorge and simply enjoy the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Day 5 - REDWOODS NATIONAL PARK/SKY TRAIL/ GOLD BEACH
Just north of Eureka lies Redwood National Park including giant trees five stories taller than the Statue of Liberty! Stop at the Trees of Mystery, a short trail devoted to the myth and mythology of Paul Bunyan. Taker a ride on the Sky Trail, an enclosed gondola through the redwood canopy to see stunning views of the redwood forest. We cross into Oregon and arrive in Gold Beach for a Jet Boat Ride on the Rogue River! Your expert boat pilot will take you upstream into the back country with its scenic views, wildlife and intriguing history. Overnight at Gold Beach. Meals:B,D

Day 4 - REDWOOD COUNTRY/EUREKA
A day to enjoy the Redwood Country of California. In Richardson State Park you’ll encounter significant old growth redwoods and we’ll stop at the Visitors Center and enjoy a short walk on the Interpretive Trail. Then drive along the Avenue of the Giants which features three trees you can drive through. And there is the Immortal Tree, over 950 years old and about 250 ft. high. Later stop in the Victorian town of Ferndalea, a photographer’ paradise and a shopper’s delight. Continue to the town of Eureka, a community basically unchanged since the 1800’s and home of the famous Carson Mansion. Dinner this evening at the Samoa Cook House. Meals:B,D

Day 6 - GOLD BEACH/NEWPORT
Travel along the majestic Oregon coast, one of the “top ten scenic drives in North America”. Arrive in Coos Bay, to tour the House of Mytlewood, a wood found nowhere else in the world and carefully crafted into works of art by local skilled artisans. Continue our coastal drive to the towering mountains of sand at National Sand Dunes Recreational Area! Embark on an exciting dune buggy ride where we climb and descend through beautiful, impressive dunes for an unforgettable experience. Free time in Reedsport for lunch before stopping at Cape Perpetua Visitor Center with its phenomenal views of the Pacific Ocean from inside. Then on to Newport to tour the Oregon Coast Aquarium. After a full day check into your hotel. Meals:B

Day 3 - YOSEMITE/SACRAMENTO
Travel through the Park again today along the Big Oak Flats Road through California Gold country on our way to Ironstone Vineyards, a family-owned winery located in the heart of the Sierra foothills . Tour the vineyard, wine caverns and gardens before a delicious buffet lunch served in the Culinary Center. Wine tasting and gold panning before we depart for Sacramento for a short tour and a visit to the wonderful California Capitol Building. Dinner this evening aboard the Delta King, a restored permanently moored paddleboat in Old Sacramento. Overnight in Sacramento. Meals:B,L,D
