Day 4 - PITTSBURGH/KENTUCK KNOB
After breakfast depart Pittsburgh and drive to Kentuck Knob, a famous Frank Lloyd Wight home built in Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands, a part of the Allegheny Mountain chain. Kentuck Knob, blending impeccably with its surroundings, is a superb example of Wright’s organic architecture and represents the realization of Wright’s achievement during his 70-year career. Once owned by Lord Palumbo of London, England, the Palumbos’ added a sculpture meadow to the site where 35 sculptures stand including a red British telephone box and a concrete slab from the Berlin Wall. Ice cream cones for all after our tour and before our departure for home, stopping enroute along the Pennsylvania Turnpike for an independent lunch. Arrive home in the late afternoon. Meals:B
Exotic garden names and plants await you at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanic Gardens listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Docents will join us to walk through beautiful indoor gardens, the Palm Court, Serpentine Room, Fern and Orchid Rooms, Tropical Fruit and Spice Room with four prominent pieces by glass artist Dale Chihuly. There is a rooftop garden which produces fresh produce for the cafeteria in the Welcome Center!
Day 2 - THE FRICK ARTS AND HISTORICAL CENTER/CITY TOUR

Begin the day with a roundtrip ride on the nearby Duquesne Incline that begins atop Mt. Washington for a view of Pittsburgh’s “Golden Triangle”. Then on to the Frick Arts and Historical Center for a guided tour of elegant Clayton, industrialist and art collector Henry Frick’s home which he bequeathed to his daughter and therefore it still contains original furnishings and personal belongings. Visit his carriage house that was enlarged in the 1950’s to create the Car and Carriage Museum. Lunch on your own before our guided tour of Pittsburgh with our local guide, Marlene, who will make it fun and enjoyable for you. Dinner tonight at the Church Brew Works Restaurant. Meals: B,D

This afternoon a special treat as you visit the Cathedral of Learning Nationality Rooms that highlight the good things that immigrants brought to America. These unique classrooms provide a look at the history and tradition of each nation represented and therefore are beautifully decorated. Or for those who prefer some leisure time, the motorcoach will return you to the hotel where you can relax, or perhaps do some shopping in the nearby stores. Meals: B

As we make our way to Pittsburgh, we’ll stop near Jennerstown for lunch and then continue to Pittsburgh with three nights at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel located in the heart of restaurants and shops.
