Day 4 - CHARLESTON/BEAUFORT/SAVANNAH 
Depart Charleston this morning for the old port town of Beaufort (pronounced Bew-fert), about as southern as it can get! First discovered by the Spanish in 1514, the British founded the city in 1711. You’ll enjoy a carriage ride with a local guide of this picturesque city before an independent lunch. Travel on to lovely Savannah for two nights in the historic area of the city. Dinner this evening at the well-known 45 Bistro.  Meals:B,D

Day 2 - NEW BERN/CHARLESTON     
Travel south to Middleton Plantation, arriving in time for lunch and guided tours of the gardens and the Plantation, a National Historic landmark. Neglected for years after the Civil War, a direct descendant inherited the Plantation and he and his bride spent many years restoring the extensive gardens and main house. Continue into Charleston to our hotel for two nights in the historic area. Meals:B,L

Day 3 - CHARLESTON SIGHTSEEING    Our guide, Paula, will join us this morning for a delightful look at the city of Charleston and a tour of the Joseph Manigault Museum House built in 1803 and designed by Gabriel Manigault, brother of Joseph. The centerpiece of the house is a "flying" staircase in the hall. The house has been restored to its original color and schemes and has a grand collection of American, English and French period furnishings. Afternoon at leisure to stroll and explore on your own. This evening enjoy dinner and a boat cruise with good food and choice of several entrees. Meals:B,D

Day 7 - RALEIGH/HOME   
Depart for home today stopping enroute for lunch. Arrive home in the late afternoon or early evening.  Meals:B,L

Day 5 - SAVANNAH  
Savannah, settled in 1733, is a special southern city because of its natural beauty and rich history. Our local expert, Pat, will join us to tour the Historic District laid out around 24 Trust Lots, public areas or squares as we know them today. Our morning tour includes a visit with our guide to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, built in 1873 with marvelous murals and stained glass windows. This afternoon explore on your own more of this enchanting city’s tree-filled squares, the City Market or the River Street Shops. Meals:B

Day 1 - WILMINGTON/NEWARK/INDEPENDENCE/NEW BERN, NC 
Morning departures takes us south over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel to Norfolk for lunch at the Free Mason Abbey Restaurant. Continue to New Bern for overnight with dinner at a local restaurant. Later take an evening stroll along the marina by our hotel. Meals:L,D

Charleston and Savannah, two of our most historic cities, are delightful with their storied culture and traditions. Visit beautiful Middleton Plantation just outside of Charleston, whose gardens will be in full bloom. In Charleston see cobblestone streets lined with centuries–old homes and gardens. A stop in Beaufort for a delightful horse and carriage ride around this coastal town with lovely seaside views and homes. Savannah is famous for her hospitality, many historic squares and her handsome town houses. Good food and fine hotels are all a part of this experience!    

Day 6 - SAVANNAH/RALEIGH, NC    
Pat will join us again this morning for a motorcoach tour through the Victorian District with homes built in the 1800 and early 1900 hundreds. In Ardsley Park, the third district to be developed in Savannah, see homes built by the wealthy in the 1920’s and hear entertaining stories of Savannah in the roaring twenties. A short drive to Tybee Island east of Savannah in the Low Country with a stop at the Tybee Island Lighthouse. Depart Savannah after an independent lunch and drive north to Raleigh, NC. Late afternoon check-in at our deluxe hotel with dinner included.  Meals:B,D
