Day 3 - STEINBECK COUNTRY        
Experience the locations in Historic Monterey, Cannery Row, Pacific Grove and nearby Salinas Valley through the eyes of John Steinbeck and depart for the National Steinbeck Center. Steinbeck was born in Salinas and this 5-star museum is dedicated to enhancing awareness of his works and ideas as well as the value of the written word. Lunch at the Steinbeck House Restaurant before we return to Monterey and visit the award-winning Monterey Aquarium. Free time in the area before we return to our hotel. Meals:B,L

Day 2 - GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE/MONTEREY   
We travel across the bay and take a walk on the Golden Gate Bridge before our departure on the Coastal Highway south to Monterey, an area immortalized by John Steinbeck. On arrival an independent lunch before we join Gael, our expert naturalist guide who will amaze you with her knowledge of the area sea life, the picturesque 17 – Mile Drive along a breathtaking coastline including the Lone Pine, Seal Rock, the Pebble Beach Golf Course and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Check in late this afternoon at our Monterey Hotel for two nights. Dinner this evening at a local restaurant. Meals:B,D

Day 7 - GETTY VILLA/LOCAL SIGHTSEEING     
The lovely Getty Villa in Malibu is the scene of our sightseeing today. The villa was the original Getty Museum and is now the delightful Getty Villa, modeled after a first-century Roman country house, the Villa del-Papiri in Herculaneum, Italy. The villa immerses visitors in the ancient world with Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiquities. Special guides will delight you with their knowledge and there are tours available of the gardens at no cost to you.  After lunch a look at downtown Los Angeles before our farewell dinner this evening. SHERATON GRAND LOS ANGELES

Day 5 - SOLVANG/SANTA BARBARA/LOS ANGELES  Continue south to Santa Barbara, silhouetted against the Santa Ynez Mountains.  A private tour of the Court House and its very impressive and beautiful murals with time in downtown Santa Barbara for shopping, exploring and an independent lunch. Late afternoon finds us in Los Angeles, a city of incredible diversity. Check into your hotel, your home for three nights.  Meals:B,D

Day 4 - MONTEREY/HEARST CASTLE/SOLVANG  
We travel further south along the coast to Ragged Point for marvelous views of the Pacific Coast before arriving in San Simeon and the palatial mountain top retreat Hearst Castle from the opulent era of the early 20th century. Built by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, it is now a National Historic Landmark. After your tour, we continue south to the Danish town of Solvang for overnight. Meals:B

Day 8 - LOS ANGELES AIRPORT/HOME                                                        
Departure this morning for the Los Angeles Airport to board our return flight to Philadelphia where transportation will be waiting to return you to home. Meals:B

Sleep in a bit this morning before departing for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. Experience his extraordinary life, the Oval Office, glimpse fragments of the Berlin Wall, step aboard Air Force One, and enjoy the many exhibits that include dazzling objects that tell the story of the admiration for this 40th President.
