Day 7 - THE MOUNT/HOME
A short ride to the The Mount, one of the very favorite places we visit on our New England tours. At one time it was the home of Edith Wharton, a remarkable lady, born 1862 into tremendous wealth. She spent her early years touring Europe with her parents and on their return to the U.S. they spent their time in New York and Newport. Edith was very talented and published as a writer in the age of 18. She was a Pulitzer Prize winner, was very witty and very accomplished in decorative arts. The Mount, in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, was where she wrote some of her best known and successful novels including Ethan Frome and House of Mirth. Enjoy touring her home and wandering through her gardens. Time now to make our way home, stopping for lunch enroute and for appropriate rest stops. Arrival late afternoon/early evening. Meals:B,L
Day 5 - LAKE CRUISE/WOLFBORO/DINNER TRAIN
After breakfast depart for Lake Winnipesaukee to board the MS Mount Washington for a delightful cruise to the town of Alton Bay and then on by motorcoach to Wolfeboro, the Oldest Summer Resort in America. Wolfeboro is a great New England town and you can have an independent lunch with time to explore on your own. Have a look at the Wright Museum - it is a favorite of WW II Veterans and families. Later board the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train while you ride and dine in a restored Pullman dining car with mountain vistas and lush forest surrounding the train. Return to our hotel after your train ride. Meals:B,D

Day 2 - BOSTON
After breakfast travel to Quincy Market and meet your guide for a Boston tour, including Beacon Hill, Boston Common, the Public Garden and the Old Statehouse. Visit the Old North Church, where 2 lanterns signaled Paul Revere that the British were coming. Enjoy an independent lunch at Quincy Market, a Boston marketplace for over 250 years. There are 100 shops, carts and artisans offering treasures to take home. After lunch visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, a 15th century Venetian-style palazzo. “The spirit of the architecture, the personal character of the arrangement of the art and the color and fragrance of the courtyard all create an atmosphere that delights the senses and sparks the imagination”. This museum was the scene of the biggest art theft ever in the United States. Dinner this evening is at the Chart House Restaurant. Meals:B,D
