Four wonderful days in the Berkshires of Massachusetts shows you outstanding sites and sounds! A local guide will join us as we tour the area and visit several outstanding sites. Tanglewood, famous for its summer music, is nearby and we will have tickets for an evening performance. Three nights at our well known local hotel where you can relax on its huge porch! I T I N E R A R Y
Day 1 - INDEPENDENCE/NEWARK/ WILMINGTON/STOCKBRIDGE
Following departure, we’ll drive north into Connecticut for lunch before continuing north to Stockbridge for three nights. Late afternoon visit to the nearby Hoffman Pottery. Check-in at our hotel with dinner at their farm to table restaurant and there is a pub with nightly entertainment. Meals:L,D

Day 2 - NAUMKEAG/ROCKWELL MUSEUM/CHESTERWOOD
Visit Naumkeag, summer “cottage” and gardens, home of the Choate family in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It served as a their summer home for three generations, with 44 rooms and beautiful gardens. Lunch on your own before we head to the Norman Rockwell Museum, where you will be delighted at the magnificence of Rockwell’s large scale original paintings. It’s art that tells stories. Later afternoon finds us at the estate and studio of American sculptor Daniel Chester French. His workspace was designed specifically for creating monumental public sculpture, which includes the Abraham Lincoln that forms the centerpiece of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D. C. Day 3 - LENOX/TANGLEWOOD
After breakfast our guide will join us as we head for The Mount, former home of writer Edith Wharton always one of the tour highlights! She designed the home herself and your guide will share the beauty and history of the 1902 building and the writer herself. In Lenox have lunch on your own before we visit Ventfort Hall, one of the so-called “Cottages” built in Lenox in the late 19th century when the village became a popular Gilded Age resort. Your tour will be followed by High Tea. Return to the hotel to freshen up before departing for an evening at Tanglewood! Boxed dinners this evening at Tanglewood are included. Meals:B,D

Day 4 - BERKSHIRE BOTANICAL GARDEN/HOME
After breakfast visit the Berkshire Gardens, one of the oldest botanical gardens in New England. They are awash in color all season long. Their newest addition, Lucy’s Garden, is a whimsical topiary collection featuring 22 exotic creatures and other ‘live’ sculptures. Enjoy the gardens followed by an independent lunch before departure for home with arrival in the early evening. Meals:B
